A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.

It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
proclaiming your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.

For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
How great are your works, Lord,
how profound your thoughts!
Senseless people do not know,
fools do not understand,
that though the wicked spring up like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.

But you, Lord, are forever exalted.

For surely your enemies , Lord,
surely your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.
10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox;
fine oils have been poured on me.
11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.

12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him. ”

Eat His Flesh, Drink His Blood... What?

I woke this morning with Jesus words on my mind.

“Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." (John 6:53 NIV)

Let me tell you that first of all, Jesus is not talking about some bread and some wine, or "communion" as we commonly misunderstand it.

Let us stand like this man

Reblogged from The Works of God:

I had the pleasure of joining a group of people on Friday that included a Christian man from Ghana.  He loves Jesus and he holds tightly to the promises of God in ways that are beautiful and humbling.  He has been evangelizing, mentoring and teaching for years in Western Africa, including in some very dangerous places.

Last year he lost his daughter to an illness of some kind, a beautiful 21-year-old young woman about to finish college.

Cloud of witnesses

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pion

eer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

For sure this is going to be an interesting year. A great year. Pause a little. Now say a prayer.

You heard about all those stories about people being carjacked, others planning to assassinate others. Others are authoring queer documents. There are Crazy drawings all over the city. Cases bring revived and so on and so on…

Then there was this meeting to be held at Jumuia conference centre. The organizers called it Limuru 2b. I do not know what they wanted to go and talk about but for sure I know it was political. It was not held. It turned to be running battles between the police and the youths who had gathered around the area. At this time, where were the organizers? By the way, will the police commissioner punish the police officers who caned one of the youths mercilessly? Mind you, he had surrendered; he knelt and lifted his hands before the officers who are supposed to uphold the rule of the law descended on him.

There was this MP. They call him Gitobu Imanyara. As he says, and many are questioning, he was accosted by thugs at State House Cresent on Tuesday night. Many are wondering whether the story is true. I know they will continue wondering and will never get to know the truth, just like they have not known about many other things. By the way, I also do not know many things but for sure I do not believe this story. In my opinion it was written…by someone.

Let me go and sleep, this things are really mind boggling!

This is going to be a really interesting year.

character design, part 3

People are different (Photo credit: aaipodpics)

Some people tell you their decisions as if they are facts. They then take issue with you when you refuse to accept the opinions as such. And not just leisurely, they go to great pains to show you how ignorant you are.

There is this other kind of people who are good at lecturing. Ask them to explain to you something and they duly take the opportunity to try and prove how stupid you are and how you urgently need help. All you may be asking is their opinion on something but this breed will go on ranting all the details they have about the topic in a bid to show you how uninformed you are.  They really suck. They remind me of how primary school madams used to treat us (that is a story of another day).

Then, there is this other breed of people. Let’s call them ‘woiyee me’ people. These are sympathy seekers. They are always complaining about how everyone is mistreating them. When you ask them to help they will gladly do only to go and complain to others how you don’t care and the way you make them work for you. They are also boot lickers. They like befriending you especially if you are in a position of influence but don’t want others to know. So they will serve you and then move to the other group and start complaining.

I do not want to describe more people today. But before I call it a post, let me say of this other group. This is a group of critical people. This is where you and I belong. You as well know how we behave. We like criticizing and complaining about everything and anything. Of course that is why I wrote the article as if am criticizing or complaining about the character of others. Sorry, not as if, I was actually criticizing these people.

That said let us continue enjoying life …

THIS EASTER THING…

Tags

The day before yesterday I went to church and the pastor said he will talk about this Easter thing; it sounded interesting. Before you dismiss that Pastor as cultic let me warn you that he is not. He is a man of God. This post is not about him so let us rest his case at that. It’s about this holiday called Easter. By the way, do you know what this Easter thing is all about? And did you get any Easter present?

Easter is one of the two main Christian holidays. The other one is Christmas which is celebrated on 25th December every year. Easter is commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ and his resurrection. It’s celebrated every year around the month of April.

Now that you know what Easter is, how did you celebrate it?

I have observed various ways that people celebrate these holidays

Making money: Business people have commercialized the holidays.  I am sure you have seen the many adverts of Easter offers. The interesting bit is that these adverts do not remind me or you that this holiday is about Jesus, that He died on the cross for my sins. Well, may be I haven’t traveled or read much. Let’s hope they will be including a small line in the adverts that say ‘Easter is a commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross for the sins of mankind’

Traveling: People have really bored me with questions of where am traveling to. Is Easter about traveling? They look at me in wonder when I tell them am not traveling.

Forwarding messages: I do not mean sending messages but just forwarding them. You just dig out last years Easter messages from your phone or the internet and then just forward them to your friends without reading or considering them much. By the way, do you read and reflect on the messages you receive during such holiday season? I know many people don’t.

Why did Jesus Christ die on the cross?

We were taught on this yesterday and I can briefly share with you.

Atonement for our sins

1 John 2:2

My dear children, I write this to you so that

you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we

have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ,

the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for

our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins

of the whole world.

As a Ransom

1 Timothy 2: 5-6

For there is one God and one mediator between

God and human beings, Christ Jesus, himself

human, who gave himself as a ransom for all

people. This has now been witnessed to at the

proper time.

Reconciliation of man to God

Colassians 1:19-20

For God was pleased to have all his fullness

dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to

himself all things, whether things on earth or

things in heaven, by making peace through his

blood, shed on the cross.

Redemption of mankind

Romans 3:24

And all are justified freely by

his grace through the redemption that came by

Christ Jesus

Now that you know why Jesus Christ died on the cross remember that He resurrected on the third day. Jesus is alive. And that is part of Easter. And it was for your salvation. And mine.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Mathew 11: 28-30 (NIV)

God is good

“Come now, let us settle the matter,”

says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the good things of the land;
but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

ISAIAH 1:18-20 (NIV)
